Visual Subcultures Online (Session 1)

The MA elective course Visual Subcultures Online, coordinated by Marc Tuters, takes a practical approach to studying political subcultures online, with a particular focus on the 'subterranean internet' of discussion forums and 'alternative influencers', in which radical politics and conspiracy theory appear to thrive. Students will get the opportunity to work in groups to conduct original research into a variety of online subcultural milieus, supervised by professional researchers of online subculture affiliated with oilab.eu, who will teach them how to use the Capture and Analysis Toolkit (4CAT).

Although an UvA course for which students have to register, other interested students are also welcome to join. The Round Room will be closed during this session.
