BuzzHouse provides a unique and creative venue use opportunity

Buzzhouse is a physical space of inspiration for meetings, trainings, exchanges, connections and development of innovative ideas and practical experiences in the media and cultural industries. The academic character, functional design and creative spirit of BuzzHouse make it a truly singular place.

BuzzHouse’s home base is the Beehive Studio on the first floor of the Humanities Venture Lab. Here, you are able to host small meetings with up to 8 people (and 10 in a more informal set-up). In addition, the space used as a creative film, photography and podcast studio. The room can be booked by FGw staff, students and alumni (usually for free) as well as outsiders (not for free but for very low prices).

Then, there are three spaces on the ground floor of the Humanities Venture Lab. Here, staff, students and alumni are able that can also be booked for various FGw-related meetings and events: the Cactus Meeting Room (up to 10 people), the Flamingo Meeting Room (up to 16 people at the large meeting table; there is space for additional chairs if necessary), and Co-working Space (up to 40 seated people, in theatre layout 30, and about 80-100 when standing). Bookings for these spaces go through BuzzHouse as well - and we will check if there is availability and suitability.

Apart from the OMHP areas, we also have a digitizing studio around the corner, at in the University Theatre in the Nieuwe Doelenstraat (16-18). Run by Bruce Gray and Hannus Taken, two seasoned FGw staff retirees, the studio has both the equipment and expertise to digitalize almost all audiovisual footage. The studio, including Bruce and Hannus, can be booked for (learning) digitizing services.

Located at the Oudemanhuispoort (OMHP) and the University Theatre (ND16) on the Humanities campus in the heart of Amsterdam, Buzzhouse merges the historic character of the city centre with modern amenities and a vibrant community of creatives to offer distinctive event, meeting and learning spaces.

In our Beehive Studio, FGw staff, students and alumni, as well as other Humanities-related initiatives, can use our equipment to create practical and entrepreneurial projects. Please indicate in the form below what equipment you would like to use. You need to request your booking at least one week (7 working days) in advance, so that we can process the booking and make sure our team is available.
